Wellington and District Twinning Association Newsletter

October 2021

Unfortunately, we have to start this Newsletter with the sad news that Eve Bosyj, a long -standing member of the Twinning Association, passed away on September 21st this year. Our thoughts are with Patrick at this sad time.

“Ruhe in Frieden, Liebe Eve”

Recent events

This is the first newsletter since Jan 2020, and much has changed during this time with no Twinning events held, but it is now hoped to start twinning activities once again.

Committee Members news 2021

A very brief Committee meeting was held recently and the following resignations were received:

Brian has had to resign as Chairman with great regret as he has thoroughly enjoyed his many years as a very successful chairman. Laurence has offered to take over the role temporarily until an AGM can be held. Her offer was received with many thanks.

Chris and Judith Gwatkin are unfortunately unable to continue as Treasurer and Secretary after many years of success in these roles. The committee are looking for volunteers to take on these roles.

Meeting on Tuesday October 19th 2021 7pm

A meeting has been arranged for Tuesday Oct. 19th at the Wellington Town Council Chamber, at the back of the Wellington Library, at 7pm.

Laurence is calling the meeting ‘A la Recherche du Temps Perdu’ and the aim is to discuss and share ideas about the future of the Twinning Association. Everybody welcome – members, friends, relatives, neighbours etc. etc.

The meeting will be as Covid safe as possible. The Council Chamber is a large room with plenty of space for social distancing. Mask wearing is encouraged.

If you feel you may have been in contact with anyone who might have been exposed to the virus, please take a Covid test beforehand. Laurence will certainly be doing this.

From Gill Broad on behalf of the current Twinning Committee members.

Please acknowledge receipt of this newsletter. (so that I can be sure that I have the correct contact details for everyone.)
