Visit by the French Jumelage in May 2014.
The 2014 visit was a great success with the French party all returning home very happy. We have received an e-mail thanking us on behalf of all the French party, for an enjoyable visit.
Our visitors were expected to arrive in Wellington around midday on Friday 6th. Due to aircraft problems they actually arrived at 18:00. The came by coach to the Civic Centre and were met by their hosts and the Mayor in the Council Chamber.
On Saturday 7th the French were entertained by their hosts until the evening when there was a dinner/dance at The Whitehouse Hotel (7 o’clock for 7-30 pm.). Alan Heighway provided the music after the meal. The Mayor of Wellington joined us as a guest of the Association.
On Sunday 8th all those wishing to go on the trip met at the Civic Centre at 9-30 am to board a coach to visit Powis Castle near Welshpool. It was a wonderful day with good weather, and as well as enjoying the sights the party were entertained by a fly pass from the Red Arrows
During the afternoon on the way back home we stopped at “Charlies” shopping complex outside Welshpool so that our French visitors could buy some goodies to take home. We arrive back at the Civic Centre at 6.00pm.
On Monday 9th our visitors flew home from Birmingam during the afternoon. During the morning they explored Wellington.
